By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM12899586
Manufacturer Part Number: W10113040A

This grease filter is an OEM replacement for Whirlpool microwaves. The filter helps to maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of the appliance. It is located underneath the microwave, typically in a slot behind a protective grille. Its primary function is to trap grease particles and prevent them from accumulating on internal components, ensuring optimal airflow and reducing the risk of fire.

Causes of a bad grease filter include excessive use without proper cleaning, exposure to high temperatures or grease splatters, or reaching the end of its lifespan due to regular wear and tear.

Symptoms of a clogged or defective grease filter:

  • Reduced airflow or suction from the range hood
  • Persistent cooking odors lingering in the kitchen
  • Visible buildup of grease or grime on the filter or surrounding areas
  • Clogged or obstructed air vents or ductwork

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore range hoods and over-the-range microwaves.

Hello Terry, You should first test the oven temperature sensor WB24X25056. The oven sensor should have a resistance of 1090 ohms at 77 degrees and would add 2 ohms for every 1 degree of temperature increase. If this is good, the issue is most commonly the ignitor WB13X24924. This is tested by amperage. It should read 3.2 to 3.6 amps or the gas valve will never open. If the ignitor is not getting voltage you could have a bad control WB27X32205.
