By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18025710
Manufacturer Part Number: WP3406653

This sensor harness connects the dryer's moisture sensor bars to the main wiring, helping the control or timer read moisture levels so Auto Dry cycles can advance and deliver consistent, reliable drying performance.

  • Provides the electrical path between the moisture sensor bars and the control/timer
  • Enables the dryer to sense wet fabrics and adjust or advance Auto Dry cycles
  • A damaged or open harness can cause Auto Dry to not advance, run too long, or stop early
  • Contribute to inconsistent dry times or a "Sensing" indicator that behaves abnormally
What's included: One sensor wire harness Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Access the sensor bars at the front bulkhead; note wire routing and clip locations
  • Transfer routing/clips from the old harness; connect to both sensor bars and the main harness plug, ensuring snug terminals and clear wire paths
  • Restore power and run an Auto Dry test; inspect/clean the sensor bars and check harness continuity

Answer

David, You will want to check the thermostats and thermal fuse to make sure that they are good. Check the igniter to make sure that the igniter is glowing when the unit is turned on. If the igniter is turning on then check the flame sensor and if this checks ok then the issue will most likely be the coils on the unit being faulty. If the igniter does not glow then this would be more likely that the igniter is faulty.

Answer

David, The first check should be at the dryer exhaust pipes and vent hood. They can get restricted with lint, get kinked, twisted and this will reduce the air flow and cause the dryer to take longer to dry. You can disconnect the venting from the back of the dryer and run a "normal" sized load, it should take 30 to 40 minutes to dry the load. If the problem persists, remove the lower access panel, start the dryer and observe the gas burner. the igniter should glow, then start to fade and the burner flame should ignite and burn. it should cycle like this for the complete cycle. let the dryer run and heat for 15 to 20 minutes, then re check the cycling process. If the igniter glows and fades, but there is no flame ignition, you most likely have defective gas valve coils, and they will need to be replaced.
