Ramblin Wreck August 02, 2021 for Model Number Whirlpool dryer moisture sensor What is the rating of the MOVs on the moisture sensor connector?
1 Answer Ramblin Wreck, Unfortunately, we do not have rating information on the MOV on the moisture sensor harness.. Read More...
1 Answer Gary, Check to make sure that the venting of the unit is clean from inside the dryer to the outside of the home. If this checks ok then the issue will be caused by either a thermistor that is faulty or a stuck relay on the control board. You will want to test the thermistor for resistance of 10K ohms at room temperature. Read More...
Julio May 28, 2020 for Model Number GEW9200LW1 Whirlpool Duet Dryer, not heating. - No error codes on the display, it just won't heat. - All (3) the heating element, high-limit thermostat, and thermal cutoff located in the heater housing have continuity. - The voltage at the heating element and other components is accurate. - The thermal fuse in the blower housing has continuity. - Resistance for the thermistor in the blower housing measures just fine. - The door switch is fine. - Set the dryer to the “Diagnostic Test Mode”, successfully ran all diagnostic tests using console push buttons & LEDs on the panel, and no error code was displayed. - Checked mainboard with meter and everything seems to be fine. Tried to test moisture sensor and something does not match the troubleshooting guide. Set the dryer to the “Diagnostic Test Mode”. Opened the dryer door and immediately “3E” (Not an E3 code) code is displayed in the console window. Then, I placed a finger across the two metal sensor strips on the lint screen housing as tech documentation, but then there was no beep tone sound nor a “03” code gets displayed in the console window. As a side note, if I add wet clothes into the dryer, the dryer senses wet close and changes LED light from "sensing" to "wet" on the display. Maybe the moisture sensor wire harness is defective. Your thoughts? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Julio, If you have 120Vac coming from the control board to the element with one wire disconnected and the thermal cutout, high limit thermostat, and heating element are good, the issue is most likely the centrifugal switch in the motor 279787. Read More...
Kepzr July 18, 2018 for Model Number YWED6400SW0 All of a sudden it won't run. The panel lights up, everything appears to work on the board. But when I push START, all I get is a little click and then nothing. All the controls seem to work fine other wise. I can turn the drum light on and off, all the different buttons work, just won't start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1 Answer Hello, you'll want to make sure the thermal cutoff W10169881 is good as well as the broken belt switch part number WP8566208. Hope this helps! Read More...
Mark July 20, 2017 for Model Number wed915owwo The dryer is running . On time dry/ air setting and it is hot hot. I tested the moisture sensor harness as suggested on tech sheet. Got nothing on the meter. I had just replaced the thermal fuses and the exhaust thermistor. Both of them previously tested defective. All other sensors test out fine. Is the harness to the moisture sensor bad. It has mov/ Metal oxide veristors. The tech sheet says that if it fails it is bad. I don't want to keep throwing money at this thing. Help please!
1 Answer Hello Mark. If it is testing bad, it will need to be replaced. However, this would not cause the unit to heat in air dry. You need to check for a grounded element or bad main control board keeping the element turned on. Read More...
Steven June 04, 2017 for Model Number WED9150WW1 My dryer is not drying clothes completely. It seems to be stopping early on loads. I have checked all of the lint pathways and their is no clog anywhere. I have also tested the thermistor at got 11.8k at ~68°s. The book says 11.9k so I ruled that out. I also conducted the sensor bar test and it beeped when I touched the rods with my finger. The only thing I can think of is the Whirlpool Dryer Wire Harness WP3406653.
1 Answer Hello Steven, Most of the time if the unit finishes and the clothes are still wet there is a ducting issue. You should check for crimps, clogs and an excessively long or complicated duct run, (too many turns). The only other thing in this case that could cause this is possibly a bad control WPW10235613 that is quick cycling. Read More...
Stevio April 22, 2017 for Model Number 11061062000 when I start my dryer in cotton or any mode, the clean lint screen light come on and it kicks out and wont start what could the problem be
1 Answer Hello Stevio. You will need to make sure all the air duct is clean and the blower is working good. If so, then test the thermistor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
David Jerde October 09, 2016 for Model Number WGD9400ST0 Our dryer doesn't seem to be heating, either in sensor mode or when running in timed mode. What troubleshooting can I do to identify the specific problem? There have been no changes to power availability and natural gas delivery, so I assume there is something internal preventing the heater from firing.
2 Answers David, You will want to check the thermostats and thermal fuse to make sure that they are good. Check the igniter to make sure that the igniter is glowing when the unit is turned on. If the igniter is turning on then check the flame sensor and if this checks ok then the issue will most likely be the coils on the unit being faulty. If the igniter does not glow then this would be more likely that the igniter is faulty. Read More...

2 Answers David, The first check should be at the dryer exhaust pipes and vent hood. They can get restricted with lint, get kinked, twisted and this will reduce the air flow and cause the dryer to take longer to dry. You can disconnect the venting from the back of the dryer and run a "normal" sized load, it should take 30 to 40 minutes to dry the load. If the problem persists, remove the lower access panel, start the dryer and observe the gas burner. the igniter should glow, then start to fade and the burner flame should ignite and burn. it should cycle like this for the complete cycle. let the dryer run and heat for 15 to 20 minutes, then re check the cycling process. If the igniter glows and fades, but there is no flame ignition, you most likely have defective gas valve coils, and they will need to be replaced. Read More...
Josh H September 22, 2016 for Model Number wgd9200sq1 gas dryer Hello, Last night everything worked fine.. This am went to dry cloths and the dryer powered up and when I hit start nothing happened. It just says "sensing". I put the machine into test mode and I am getting F28? we replaced the main circuit board last year.
1 Answer Hello Josh. You will need to test the thermal fuse, door switch, and look for a broke belt. Any of the 3 can cause the issue you are having. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
