Bem for Model Number 110.96585210 I have an old Kenmore dryer - model # 110.96585210. It runs, but no longer heats up. I've been troubleshooing online, and took the back panel off. One obvious problem is one large red wire the leads to the heating element is fried and broken. I think that is part # 279457. There are 2 red wires, one connects to the timer, and I believe that is our wire that has fried. My question is, if I replace that wire, do you think that's the end of my problem or could the heating element and/or timer be part of the problem too?
Answer Hello Bem. The wire is the issue for sure. Just test the heater and make sure it reads closed for continuity. If so, you will need to replace the heater assembly as well. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
