Chris December 18, 2023 for Model Number WED4800XQ0 electric dryer A couple of months my dryer stopped drying efficiently. On one full cycle, my clothes are still very damp. I set a second cycle and they dry fully. I ordered and replaced the cycling thermostat, but there was no change. The vents are clear. What do I need to do, what part?
1 Answer Chris, Make sure the blower wheel is not damaged or no lint in that area. Disconnect the vent behind the dryer. Run a load for 60 minutes timed dry. If your clothes are dry when the cycle is finished then there is a blockage in the vent. It does not have to be fully blocked to affect the dry times. Read More...
Fix It Mom November 17, 2023 for Model Number whirlpool LER5636JQ0 Purchased Heating Element Connecting Kit per previous suggestion regarding a burnt wire, but the video shows a bit different fix. My wire goes from heating element to the lower end of thermostat, but requires a double type of male/female terminal, to connect it and the orange wire connecting from the top of the dryer together then attach to thermostat. The thermostat terminal is also smaller than this end piece. I'm not even what to call that double terminal or where to find one. Second question, I just recently replaced the heating element a couple months ago. It tests 1 ohms continuity on x10 setting of analog multimeter versus 0 like all the other parts. Previous answer said may need cleaned or replaced...so this result on multimeter seems to show it still has continuity. How would I go about cleaning it?
1 Answer Fix it mom, the wire in question is a jumper wire that comes in the thermostat kit 279816. The kit also includes the piggyback connector referenced. However, if the piggyback connector is on the orange wire, the new connecting wire can be used to splice onto the good section of wire that is connecting to the thermostat. If the thermostat side is damaged, the thermostat kit would be needed to repair the wires in question. In regards to cleaning the element, a vacuum can be used to clear as much lint off as possible. Removing the element 279838 will allow for a more in depth cleaning of lint. Read More...

Michael Goodwin December 10, 2021 for Model Number 11060812990 My thermal cutoff switch had a burnt wire so i bought the kit to replace it and the upper limit thermostat. First off, i dont have the orange wire that i see in videos that connects to the older style upper limit thermostat. The newer thermostat has two terminals but doesn't connect to the heater element the way the old one does. I was going to use the jump wire to connect from the lower terminal on the thermostat to the heating element terminal. will this be a safe way to install the newer upper limit themostat.? the old one had a metal extension with a kind of double connector that fit over the heating element terminal and had a terminal that the orange wire was connected to. not sure what that orange wire in the video goes to from the upper limit thermostat. Thanks for any help. Mike
1 Answer Michael, You would just use the jumper wire to go from the thermostat to the heating element. This was a design change that the manufacturer made to do this repair. Read More...

Carlos October 20, 2020 for Model Number whirlpool dryer There is a part that looks like a fuse or a resistor that is covered in like a clear plastic hose that is attached to the orange wire that goes to the timer and the other end of this orange wire goes to the heating element at the bottom of the dryer. What is this part called because I think this is the problem with my dryer. Thanks. I can send pictures of this part if needed. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Carlos, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Dwayne September 28, 2020 for Model Number DV36J4000EW/A3 The wires keep melting at the terminals on the heating element. Why is this and how can I fix it? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Dwayne, this occurs due to poor/loose contact between the wire terminals and the heater terminals, the poor contact area causes resistance which turns into heat. Usually, you need to clean or lightly sand the heater terminals and replace the wire terminals with new ones and cut back on the wire if shows signs of overheating then install the wire terminals. Jason March 17, 2020 for Model Number DLEX3360V I bought a new heating element but my old one had 1 red wire and 2 white wires connected to the one end of element but the new one came with 1 red and white connected to it with no terminal for my 2nd white wire. Everything else fits and is the same as the old one. Wrong element? Thank you for your time.
1 Answer Jason, the heating element 5301EL1001H used with your model will have a twin terminal connection on the cycling thermostat 6931EL3001F where the wire would connect. Read More...
Donjuan June 03, 2019 for Model Number WED9500TW2 Something keeps blowing my Thermal fuse. Part WP3392519 I've replaced that part (3) times.
1 Answer Hello Donjuan, This is the indication of an exhaust restriction. You will need to check the exhaust ducting from the back of the unit to outside atmosphere. If there is too much back pressure the pressure from the fan blower will blow the heat, lint, and moisture past the felt drum seals where it is introduced back into the cabinet of the dryer. This causes excessive heating of the thermal fuse which is opened from excessive temperatures. As a note, flexible ducting causes even more back pressure and contributes to this complaint.
