The Icemaker Motor Module is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This module is the heart of the icemaker, responsible for controlling the ice production cycle. It manages the timing, water fill, and ice tray ejection, ensuring that your refrigerator consistently produces and dispenses ice.

Symptoms of a bad Icemaker Motor Module include:

  • The icemaker failing to produce ice,
  • Ice cubes not ejecting into the bin,
  • The icemaker making unusual noises during operation.

Causes of motor module failure typically involve mechanical wear from continuous use, electrical failures such as short circuits, or water damage affecting the electronic components.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

John, the water on the floor and freezer would likely be from the defrost drain being clogged. In regards to the ice maker, it would be recommended that the black wire of the ice maker harness W10838084 is tested for 120VAC using the white wire as the neutral/ground test point at the freezer harness connection. If there is voltage, the next step would be to test the black wire for 120VAC where it plugs into the ice maker in the same manner. If there is not voltage at the ice maker, the failure is in the harness. If there was no voltage at the first test, but all of the lights turn on, there would likely be a wire issue in the voltage line going to the ice maker harness.
