Ken N for Model Number LG8519W/L2 Amana Gas Clothes Dryer Our Amana dryer started making a noise today. The dryer will not heat up to dry the clothes. The igniter glows but the flame doesn't ignite. I checked the exhaust vent-all clear, The noise seems to coincide with the igniter going from dark to glowing,so when the igniter goes off,the noise goes off.
Answer Hello Ken, You may want to check the the solenoid on the unit to make sure it is not faulty. You can check the ohms of the coils to check to see if good. Holding coil 58804 terminals 1 to 2 should be 1365 ohms plus or minus 25. Booster coils terminals 1 and 3 should be 560 ohms plus or minus 25. Secondary coil 279834 should read 1220 ohms plus or minus 25. If you have a bad coil it will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
