Manufacturer Part Number: WP8182634

The Door Switch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This assembly detects whether the washer door is open or closed, allowing the machine to start or stop the washing cycle accordingly.

Causes of a bad door switch assembly can include wear and tear from frequent use, damage from forceful closing of the door, or electrical issues. A malfunctioning switch can prevent the washer from recognizing a closed door, thus hindering the start of the wash cycle or causing it to stop unexpectedly.

Symptoms of a bad Door Switch Assembly include:

  • Washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Error codes indicating door issues
  • Washer not spinning or agitating
  • Door lock mechanism not engaging or disengaging properly

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Ben for Model Number maytag mfw9800tq0

I have been getting a random F11 error for the last few months, All the wires and connections seem fine, but my last load ended during a spin cycle (whole thing rocks and vibrates a great deal) with a F11 and DL error. Now I get a DL error on any start attempt. I hear the door lock and it is locked but the washer keeps trying to lock the door until it errors out. I have read conflicting advice about trying a door lock switch or a cpu. What advice do you give?

Answer

Hello Ben, The door lock mechanism is comprised of more than one switch and a solenoid. You must be aware that if the door is locking but you still get the DL code, the other internal switch that tells the control that the door is closed and locked can be bad. In this case the control does not recognize that the door is closed and the unit will pop the code signifying that the door is not locking. I would replace the door lock assembly WP8182634.
