This magnetron is the high-voltage tube that generates microwave energy to heat food in compatible countertop and over-the-range ovens. Replacing a failing magnetron restores cooking performance and stops warm-only or no-heat operation. What it does

  • Converts high-voltage electrical energy into microwave radiation for food heating
  • Commonly related to ovens that produce no heat, very weak heat, or intermittent heating
  • Can cause unusual humming, arcing/sparking inside the cavity, or burnt-odor symptoms if failing
  • Works with the oven's high-voltage assembly and waveguide to distribute microwave energy
What's included One magnetron Install notes
  • Disconnect power and unplug the appliance before any service—high-voltage components can retain a lethal charge
  • Handle the magnetron carefully; avoid touching terminals or the antenna to prevent damage

Answer

Hi Frank. The magnetron is simply a UN hook all elect. connectors and unbolt it part # WP53001044. You just need to use a Torx T-20 security bit and remove the back. Then behind the control panel is the magnetron. It is to the rt. of the cavity. The recommended diode is part # WPR9800486. Make sure you mark all wires for proper replacement. The diode and the mag. has elect. connectors that have center locking tabs that need to be released w/ a pick tool in order to remove the connector. It is important to make sure you do not get anywhere near thew capacitor terminals as it stores very high voltage and can be deadly. Use a pair of needle nose pliers that has insulated handles and are in good repair w/ no cracks in the handle. It is really more time consuming then difficult. If you need to use a cell phone for pictures as you disassemble it, it will be for your advantage. Thank You.
