Steve for Model Number MFT2976AEM03 The top two left ceiling LED lights in the refrigerator cabinet remain bright when either refrigerator cabinet door is opened. The top three right ceiling lights and both LED lights on both left and right side walls of the refrigerator cabinet are initially bright for approximately 2 seconds before all 7 LED modules will strobe brightly in unison at approximately 2 cycles per second. The 7 LEDS began to strobe at the same door opening event. The freezer cabinet LED light does not light when the freezer cabinet door is opened. I note in R-114 Job Aid publication )ladder diagram pages 6-5 and 6-14) that the power to the two left ceiling LEDS are fed by pins 1 & 2 from the LED driver board, The two left and two right side wall LEDs are fed by pins 3 & 4 from the driver board, and the three right ceiling LEDS and the freezer LED are fed by pins 5 & 6 from the LED driver board. Would these symptoms indicate a failing 120AC/14VDC power supply feeding the driver board as the two LEDs circuit (pins 1 & 2) are still providing enough voltage/current to operate correctly, while the four LEDs circuit voltage/current draw results in strobing? The ladder diagram indicates these 3 LED groups are each powered as a series circuit? Have you encountered this issue? What trouble-shooting suggestions would you suggest?
Answer Steve, this failure is going to indicate that the freezer light W11683241 has shorted out. The refrigerator lights strobing is an indicator that the lights are receiving voltage, and therefore, the freezer light should do the same thing as the other lights if it was the board WPW10306786. As the freezer light is not turning on at all, this would indicate the light as failing. This can be tested by removing the freezer light while the door switch is pressed in (tricking the board into thinking the door is closed) and using a jumper wire where the light plugs into the wire harness. From there, if the refrigerator lights illuminate properly, the freezer LED has been verified as being the culprit. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, April 2, 2020
