Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Led Light Module (Part Number: OEM21650670)

Hello Mark, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com With all the lights being out, the light power supply board W10804160 is a possibility, but there are several things that can cause this issue. This style does not have a noise filter to mitigate electrical interference, so pretty much any low voltage DC circuit can cause some odd things to happen if one fails. Before doing anything else I would open the left-hand pantry drawer and see if that user interface set into the top of the drawer is coming on. If it isn't, disconnect the appliance from power, pop that UI out of the drawer and disconnect it, then reconnect the appliance to power and see if the lights are now working. This is a pretty common failure with these. If that UI is good, go into the diagnostic mode using the tech sheet that came with the unit. If you don't have that tech sheet, just reply back to the email that we sent when responding to this question and we'll get that information to you. Once you're in diagnostic mode, run tests 3 and 36, this'll be for the evaporator fans and the ice box fan, the other common DC circuit failures. If those are good, run tests 16 and 17 for the door switches, just to be safe. After all of that, if all of those components seem to be working properly, then the light power supply board becomes the prime suspect.

Dan, The lights only come as a complete kit and you will want to replace all of the lights at the same time. This is something the manufacturer has recommended.

Tony for Model Number WRF767SDHZ

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator model number WRF767SDHZ back in 2021 from Lowes. My issue is that some of the internal LED illumination lights are not working. There are LED lights in the refrigerated section on the side walls and the top/ceiling wall. There are also lights in the freezer compartment. The lights on the ceiling in the refrigerated section are not working, but the side wall lights ARE working. Also, none of the lights in the freezer compartment are working. Any insight as to how to go about repairing this?

Hello Tony, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. The LEDs in this unit are wired in series, meaning if 1 is out the others in that series will be out or very dim. The top LEDs in the fridge and the LED in the freezer are in 1 series and the side LEDs in the fridge are in another. This is a known issue from the manufacturer and [W11683243] is actually all 12 of the LEDs in the unit as the manufacturer changed from single-point LEDs to multi-point LEDs and recommends replacing all of the LEDs to prevent this from being an ongoing issue.

Fred, this would indicate that there is likely a shorted LED in one of the lights. Commonly, the freezer LED module W11683243 is where the failure would be. This can be verified by taping the freezer door switch down and plugging a jumper wire in place of the LED module. If the refrigerator lights work properly after that, the freezer LED would need to be replaced.

Gary for Model Number krff507ess01

I have one LED light out and the remaining lights flickering in the top cooling section of the refrigerator. What should I order to replace? Second question, there is occasional loud noise coming from the top of the refrigerator where the ice maker is located, but it is not the regular noise we have experienced in the six years we have had the unit. The unit will have some popping noise along with some churning sounds; what part would you think needs replaced? Thanks

1 Answer

Gary, The popping noise when the units icemaker is cycling may be an issue with either the water valve or the filter head being faulty. As for the LED lights it would most likely be an LED control board W10830288 that is faulty.

Henry, The lights in the freezer would be in the ceiling of the freezer compartment and would be part number W11683243. There should be between 1 and 3 and would recommend looking at the ceiling to see how many there are.

Tim, There is an LED/inverter board for this unit that would be causing the issue that you are having. The part number would be W11368839.

Bill, the freezer LED W11683243 will need to be tested. This can be done by opening the door, taping the door switch in the shut position, and removing the LED so that a jumper wire can be used in its place. With a jumper wire in place, open the refrigerator doors. If the LEDs all come on, the freezer LED shorted out and would need to be replaced.
