The LED Light Module Kit is an OEM part compatible with Whirlpool refrigerators and freezers. The kit contains 12 LED lights to replace all LEDs within the refrigerator. Within the interior cavity, this module evenly illuminates the compartment to visually check contents. LED technology provides a cool, energy-efficient light source.

Causes of a bad light module can include failure of individual LED bulbs over time, wires detaching from the circuit board, or damage from moisture intrusion.

Symptoms of a bad LED light module include:

  • Dim, flickering, or completely non-functional lighting
  • Hot spots or sections of the module not illuminating
  • Audible buzzing or humming from internal electronics

This replacement is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

Russ, it would be recommended that the freezer door is opened and the door switch is taped closed. Once this is done, the left side light module W11683241 would need to be removed and the wire connector disconnected. From there, an insulated jumper wire with 1/4" of each end bare can be used to jump the wire connector at the wall. Once the jumper is in place, remove the tape from the door switch to identify if the other lights start illuminating properly. If they do, the left light module has shorted and would need to be replaced. The door switch would need to be taped shut before removing the jumper to install the module.
