Mark for Model Number KRMF706EBS01 All lights in the freezer and fresh food sections of the refrigerator are not working. Where do I start? Is there a way to check the individual LED bulbs? I understand they are wired in series and one bulb can take out many, but could it take out the whole refrigerator? Would it be better to start checking at the lighting control board?
Answer Hello Mark, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com With all the lights being out, the light power supply board W10804160 is a possibility, but there are several things that can cause this issue. This style does not have a noise filter to mitigate electrical interference, so pretty much any low voltage DC circuit can cause some odd things to happen if one fails. Before doing anything else I would open the left-hand pantry drawer and see if that user interface set into the top of the drawer is coming on. If it isn't, disconnect the appliance from power, pop that UI out of the drawer and disconnect it, then reconnect the appliance to power and see if the lights are now working. This is a pretty common failure with these. If that UI is good, go into the diagnostic mode using the tech sheet that came with the unit. If you don't have that tech sheet, just reply back to the email that we sent when responding to this question and we'll get that information to you. Once you're in diagnostic mode, run tests 3 and 36, this'll be for the evaporator fans and the ice box fan, the other common DC circuit failures. If those are good, run tests 16 and 17 for the door switches, just to be safe. After all of that, if all of those components seem to be working properly, then the light power supply board becomes the prime suspect. Read More...
