Mr.Mayor for Model Number MTW5800TW0 Hi, I'm trying to remove the spanner nut to replace the Basketdrive, and I cant't budge it. I used a spanner wrench with a rubber mallet and a regular 20 oz claw hammer. I also used penetrating grease for 1 1/2 hrs, called over a strong friend, still no luck. Any more ideas? Thanks
Answer Mr. Mayor, Sometimes the spanner nut will seize to the drive hub, due to corrosion, electrolysis, or overtightening. The spanner nut haas "standard" threads, make sure you're turning it in a counter clockwise direction to loosen and remove the nut. You may need an assistant to "hold" the spin basket still, long and hard enough to "break" the spanner nut loose. The last resort would be to cut the spanner nut in two with a cold chisel or use a "dremel" tool , just be careful not to damage the tub mount flange on the spin basket center tube. Read More...
