John for Model Number Whirlpool ED5CHQXKQ01 My refrigerator is not cooling. I get a click, hum, click near the compressor. From reading here, it sounds like it may be one of these parts. Can you please tell me the difference between Compressor starting device - AP3083556 and Compressor starting device kit - AP3885081. I talke to the sale chat, but they couldn't tell me which one I would need and suggested I ask here.
Answer John, It does sound like a start device issue. Either start device will work on your unit, but your best bet would probably be the WP4387835 . The 8201786 would require you to "e tip"and reposition wires. it was originally designed as a replacement device for a replacement compressor, and you should verify the compressor motor windings are correct and have proper resistances.
