Bill for Model Number Gs6shaxkt01 My refrigerator and freezer is not getting cold. The fan is working and the compressor seems to go on and then after 20 seconds there is a click and it stops. Then there is a pause for 30 or so seconds and the compressor clicks and tries to go on and then goes off and the cycle starts over. I was wondering if this sounds like the the start relay? I took the start relay off and it rattles when I shake it. So, I think it is bad, but I don't want to order a new one if it is a compressor problem. Do the compressors go bad often? Thanks Bill
Answer Bill, Compressors do "go bad", but not that often, Unless there is some type of power supply issue. Based on your information, you do want to begin at the start relay device. You most likely have the original, "production" compressor, so you will need the 8201786 Start Device Kit. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 8, 2013
