Part Number: OEM18040869
Manufacturer Part Number: WP911265

This float palnut is a push-on retainer that secures the dishwasher's water-level float to its stem. Keeping the float anchored helps the overfill protection work properly, supporting correct fill levels and helping prevent leaks from overfilling. What it does:

  • Holds the float in position so it can move freely with water level changes
  • Helps the float reliably actuate the overfill/float switch
  • Replace if cracked, loose, or missing
  • Typical symptoms include a loose or wobbly float, the float popping off, erratic filling, overfilling, or leaks near the float area
What's included:
  • One float palnut
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off water supply before servicing
  • Remove the lower rack to access the float assembly
  • Remove the old retainer; press the new palnut squarely onto the float stem until snug
  • The float moves freely up and down before reassembling

Answer

Jerry, The "keps" nut is actually "screwed" onto the bottom portion of the float assembly stem WP3376397. The nut serves as a "weight" to fill the machine properly, and it keeps the float from being accidentally removed or knocked out of position. You may want to use needle nose pliers, but basically you hold the nut in position at the opening in the bottom of the float guide, above the water level switch, drop the float into the guide, hold the nut firmly and turn the float a couple of revolutions, and then test the machine for operation.
