Jared, Yes the key pads can fail in a short period of time, and based on your information, that is the issue. The key pads are "inlaid" into the control panel W10810104, so you have to replace the control panel assembly. You're not confusing the two, some brands and models do have a separate key pad assembly, but not in your case. You also want to check and make sure the wiring connections in the junction box are good and tight, and a thin coat of "Vaseline" around the touchpad ribbon and connector (after the ribbon is installed and seated properly) will help to keep any moisture or debris from entering the connection, and help to prolong the life of the key pad.
