Hello Diana, The old panel will come off simply by opening the door and removing the six or eight screws down either side. The new one will then slide up under the control panel and the screws go back in place. I would still turn the breaker off to the unit as sometimes you have to loosen the screws around the control panel to get the new panel under it and there is 120Vac in the panel.
