Peter W for Model Number Whirlpool WRS588FIVH00 My Whirlpool refrigerator takes the Everydrop 1 filter. I am like on my fourth or fifth replacement filter, with each filter the water it dispenses is never clear. So I have added a highly rated reverse osmosis water filter made by Hydroviv. My question is do they make a bypass cap for my model of water filter? if not can I run it without the Everydrop filter in place, or just leave the current filter in place forever? I should add that even with the reverse osmosis filter in place the fridge still dispenses cloudy water. The water that comes out of the reverse osmosis filter by itself is crystal clear.
Answer Peter, When the water supply to the refrigerator is from a reverse osmosis filter system the "every drop" filter should be removed. Ther is no need to leave the "filter in place forever" the filter housing has an "automatic" bypass system and will work with to without a filter(there is no bypass cap available). The "reverse" action of the filter system can create issues with the water pressure to the refrigerator which in turn can affect both the icemaker and water dispenser performance. After you remove the filter, use the refrigerator "normally" for at least 5 to 7 days, this should "flush" any residual chemicals or residue from the water system. Read More...
