Bob In Plano for Model Number Whirlpool Gold GC3NHAXVY01 Does the water holding tank in the back portion of this refrigerator for dispensing chilled water get filtered? Do I need a bypass plug for this model to use the water dispenser and icemaker? Is water from the holding tank pumped to the icemaker? Do I just remove the PUR water filter and re-install the filter cap and unfiltered city water is sent to the holding tank?
Answer Bob, Thanks for the questions!!! Yes, No, No, Yes. LOL just having fun! The tank chilled water is filtered but tank water is not sent to the icemaker. This model fridge is equipped with an auto-by-pass, meaning if the filter is removed it is bypassed. Removing the filter means that the fridge uses the quality of the water that it is hooked up to. I would advise if you are on city water to still use the filter as city water can often cause damage to components in the water system over time. Read More...
