Lynda for Model Number KitchenAid Icemaker KUIC15NHZS Installing a 15" KitchenAid Icemaker and was to use Drain Pump Kit (1901A). Wanted to run reverse osmosis water to the icemaker but specs say "an r.o. system is not recommended for ice makers that have a drain pump installed". Does this mean that I CANNOT install this condensate pump as it will not perform properly or will deteriorate? If so, is there any other kind of pump out there that can handle r.o. water adequately? Thanks for your help in figuring this out.
Answer Hello Lynda, The problem is actually that the low water pressure that is delivered to the unit from a reverse osmosis system will fill more slowly that the drain pump drains. This will cause issues with the water valve and increases complaints of slow ice production. It is recommended to install an in-line filter and do not include the ice machine in the reverse osmosis system. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, April 21, 2015
