Ernie for Model Number Whirlpool GI15NDXZB Bought an old house. I'm replacing a 15 year old whirlpool Gold ice maker G11500XHB1 with a Whirlpool GI15NDXZB. The old unit has a water supply already installed with an in line GE ice maker filter AP717. It also has a drain line that runs from the ice maker to the goose neck under the sink. Should I remove the GE in line filter since its age is unknown and since the new whirlpool has a filter in the new ice maker anyway? Also, I'm assuming the old unit has a pump installed already. Should I buy a new 1901-A drain pump or hope the old one will work? Thanks
Answer Ernie, For the first part of the question about the water filter, you will want to remove the GE filter that is on the current water line. If the pump from the old whirlpool icemaker will work then yes you can reuse it but if not then you will need to get the 1901a. Read More...
