Manufacturer Part Number: WP35-6465

The Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is responsible for efficiently removing water from the washer's tub during the drain cycle. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that the washing machine operates smoothly by pumping out dirty water, thereby preparing the machine for the rinse and spin cycles.

Over time, drain pumps can become clogged or fail due to debris build-up, wear and tear from regular use, or electrical malfunctions. When the drain pump is compromised, it can lead to water drainage issues, affecting the overall performance of the washing machine.

Symptoms of a bad drain pump assembly include:

  • Water not draining from the washer
  • Unusual noises such as grinding or humming during the drain cycle
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle or displaying error codes related to drainage
  • Visible leaks from the pump area

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Sheryl, Have you checked the drain pipe for a slow drain/backup yet, that could be a source of your leak. Based on your post, I would reccomend you remove the front panel of the washer( insert a flat bladed tool, putty knife in the seam between the top and front panel, approximately 3 inches in from the corner, press in on the tool and lift up on the top. lift up and out at the top of the front panel to release it from the bottom clips. Reposition the top proper and start the washer in a cycle. DO NOT REACH INTO THE WASHER WHILE IT IS RUNNING. I think you may find water leaking from the bottom center of the tub assembly, if so you will need W10219156 tubseal/bearing assembly, which would account for the lesak and the noise. Thanks and Good Luck
