Pete for Model Number MAV7200AWW The washer ordinarily works just fine, no other issues. At the end of a spin cycle there is a very loud screeching noise. Research showed that it could be a Snubber Ring, Brake Rotor & Stator or a Drain Pump issue. I would certainly appreciate your input on this. Thank you!
Answer Hello Pete, This is caused by the brake rotor WP35-6714 and stator WP35-6918. Replacing them will correct the noise but be aware that the manufacturer recommends to lightly grease them with white lithium grease WP20000030 to prevent the sound from recurring. Sometimes the old brake can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol, the stator sanded with a crosshatch pattern, and greased to correct the noise. The noise is, unfortunately, a characteristic of the design so the grease is strongly recommended. The grease should be applied in a thin layer so no "globs" are slung from the assembly into the floor when the unit is operated. Read More...
