Myron for Model Number Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR7646DZ1 The gas wouldn't ignite, but the dryer turns. The symptom of no ignition occurred for a few days, then it worked fine for a few and now it's gone again. I replaced the ignitor. The old ignitor has a resistance of about 80 ohms. The replacement, about 40. I do not measure any voltage across the ignitor supply wires when the dryer is ON. Is the new igniter faulty, i.e. the resistance is in the wrong range?
Answer Hello Myron. You will want to test the 279834 coils using a multi-meter. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Hope this helps! Read More...
