Rob for Model Number MSD2456GE Hello, I have this model ice maker in my Maytag refrigerator. It recently stated to make noise when going through it's cycles but still was working. Then one night the water valve must have stayed open and I had a flood coming from the ice maker. I had to turn the water off at it's source. I suspect that the maker itself got stuck supplying voltage to the water valve constantly. I think I need a new ice maker itself but also want to be sure that the water valve is ok. What can I do to test the water valve itself? I hesitate to turn back on the water though.
Answer Hello Rob. Test for power to the water valve. If there, replace the icemaker and valve. If no voltage, just replace the water valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
