Rex for Model Number 106.54563300 I have a Kenmore refrigerator from 2006. The ice maker has worked well for years but in the last year it has started to develop ice around the fan blades in the freezer and makes a terrible sound. I had to dismantle the back tin covering inside the freezer compartment and remove large pieces of ice extending from the fan blades all the way up to where the water enters the ice tray. Obviously there is a leak but where is it? There is no ice in the plastic tube leading to the ice tray...nor is there ice seen inside the tube leading to this plastic tube from somewhere behind the freezer. It only takes 1-2 days for the ice to build up and start to freeze around the fan blades. I haven't used the ice maker for a year now because of this problem. How do I access the compartment behind the freezer? Do you have any history of this problem? Thank you.
Answer Rex, Most likely the cause for the unit leaking in the way described would be caused by the water valve seeping and allowing the fill cup to get ice in it and flowing out the back. This would require a new water valve. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, January 20, 2014
