Dave Tier for Model Number ED25PEXHT02 I have a Whirlpool Side by Side refrigerator that developed a problem with the icemaker a little over a year ago. At that time I bought a replacement unit through you and it went great. It’s been working ever since until it recently developed a problem with the water fill to the unit. Water was just trickling when called for. Because it was rather new, I assumed that the problem was with the fill valves so after reading the user comments, I just purchased a new water valve assembly and installed it in accordance with the video. Everything went great but when it was put back in service, the dispenser worked fine but still no water flow to the icemaker. When it came time during the cycle to fill, you could hear the valve assembly bang a few times and that was it. Still no water. The spec sheet says the fill time should be approximately 7.5 seconds, but the sounds from the valves only lasted 2 seconds. The coil on the icemaker fill valve reads about 169 ohms, and the other two valves read approx. 342 ohms. What do you recommend as a next step? Assuming everything is good with the valve assembly, is there a potential problem with the control module that is not sequencing the fill valve properly? If it is something with the control module, should I replace the portion only or the whole unit? Any other ideas? Is there a way to test the circuit to verify these assumptions? Answer Dave, What you will want to look for is a frozen fill tube. With the water valve and the icemaker having been replaced then this would most likely be the cause. Pull the icemaker out and look inside the tube with a flashlight to see if there is ice in it and if there is use a screwdriver to scrap it out or hot water squirted into the fill tube. Read More...
