Michael S. for Model Number Amana 18S4W Refrigerator Our ice maker is working O.K. but have noticed little jagged pieces of black material in the ice. To me this looks like teflon. Does the icemaker have a coating to help the cubes come out or something? Besides being ugly is this stuff harmful? Will a new icemaker solve this problem?
Answer Michael, If you have the original ice maker in the unit, yes, there is a blaack coating in the mold to help release the ice cubes. It is not harmfull, by law it cannot be. Replacing the icemaker assembly, will solve the problem. Thanks and Good Luck. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 18, 2011
