Answer Riverton, There are two methods of water flow control to an ice maker. The water valve has a 'flow washer" inside the valve body when the valve is produced. this limits the amount of water that can enter and pass through the valve. Then, the ice maker has a "timed fill" increment. the timer motor and cam will "close" when the fill increment is reached this will supply power to the fill valve solenoid for 7 to 10 seconds which allows 4 to 4.5 oz. of water to enter and fill the ice maker mold and start the making of cubes.
