Craig for Model Number Kitchenaid KSRS27FGBT02 Before leaving for vacation I lifted the shut off arm for the ice maker. When returning I set it in the down position to start making ice but nothing happened. I used a hair dryer to loosen the ice cubes that were in the tray and was successful, but still no water came down the fill tube. I then took the hair dryer again to the ice maker and the ejector ran continuously. I poured water in the tray and the ejector eventually stopped turning but the cubes did not come out after they were frozen. I used the hair dryer to get them out. My last thought was to take everything out of the freezer and defrost it, but still no water came down the fill tube after turning it on. I always got water when I press on the water dispenser. Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer Hello Craig. With the heater not working on the icemaker you will need to replace the icemaker. You will need to test and see if the icemaker is sending power to the water valve when it cycles. If not, you will need to replace the icemaker 4317943. If there is power there and no water, you will need to replace the water valve W10408179 as well. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
