James for Model Number Kenmore mod 596.76579600

I ordered your part #D7824706Q installed still no ice. was told by your tech that I needed water valve ordered water valve part# AP6010372, installed still no ice or water in tray. There is water to valve, was told it may take 24 hrs for it to recycle. everything installed as directed WHAT could I have overlooked.? This is a bottom freezer unit. I have installed ice makers in past but on side by side units.....could use some advice. is there a way to make these cycle?

Answer

Hello James, check the freezer temp is lower then 10 deg, Then access the ice maker, pry off the front cover , hold in the freezer door light/interlock switch and using a multimeter check for 120v at the ice maker terminal test points L and N, let go of the switch and should lose voltage then leave the meter's probes in L-N and close the freezer door 120v should reappear if not lift the door slightly ,its possible the door has sagged slightly and not closing the switch fully,. If you want to cycle the ice maker, hold in the door switch and use an insulated jumper and jump between T and H, for a few seconds the ice maker will run a harvest mode.
