Pat V for Model Number sub zero 550 icemaker stopped working. Removed unit and tested wiring harness. Cannot get continuity across the pink "hot" wire (one end connects to the rocker switch - the other terminates at the ice maker). There is a ceramic/plastic 2 inch casing along this wire. Can there be a fault in this wire? What does the black casing do?
Answer Pat, The white plastic/ ceramic casing is most likely an "inline" fuse. You'll need to disconnect the wire at both connection points and check for a "closed" circuit, if there is no resistance, then the fuse would be "open", and you'll need to check for a "shorted component in the icemaker assembly(thermostat, heater, motor or switches).
