Graham for Model Number MFD2561HEW

I have been away from this issue for about 1 month. I aked then about the icemaker. You wrote about replacing water inlet valves AP4080917 and AP4080862. Well I just do not like to change parts without a reason so my question right now is, if the water dispenser is working fine so how do I know if water is (or is not) getting to the icemaker. Plus you said look for two tabs in the center of the geared wheel on the control module. By the control module do you mean the icemaker. If so, to do this inspection do I have to take the Icemaker out. Graham

Answer

Hello Graham. You will test for voltage going to the water valve when the icemaker is in harvest mode. If there is voltage and no water coming to the icemaker, and the fill tube is not frozen, you will replace the water valve. If the icemaker does not cycle, or there is no power to the valve during the cycle, you will replace the icemaker D7824706Q. The two tabs are behind the cover of the control module. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
