Jhun B. for Model Number MSD2456DEW I have a double door Maytag refrigerator, a few days ago my ice maker stops producing ice as if there's no water going into the ice maker unit. I did change the water valve in the back because the ice maker was leaking water causing a build-up of ice. Do you think I need to replace my ice maker this time? I removed the ice maker unit but it seems there's nothing wrong with it. Thanks!
Answer Hello Jhun, If you replaced the ice maker already, you need to check for sufficient water pressure. If a water line has become crimped, or the shut off has been partially closed, this could cause the issue. You see, the water inlet valve is closed by water pressure only. The valve has no spring to aid in its' closure. If sufficient water pressure is present, the only other thing that could cause the complaint is the contacts in the ice maker sticking. If this is the case, the ice maker assembly D7824706Q will require replacement. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, July 4, 2012
