James for Model Number ap2984633 My ice maker makes ice just fine, but water fills the freezer and leaks into the fridge and over the floor. The gears sound like they are stripping and smelled like burnt plastic. I usually have to remove ice chips from the fingers so they can continue through the whole process. the fridge is about 12 yrs old. thank you for any help.
Answer Hello James. You need to check and see if the icemaker is sending power to the water valve and overflowing. If so, replace the icemaker. If the power stops and the water continues to comes in and overflows, replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
