Kt for Model Number JRSD2490TB 16 yr old fridge. Put a lot of $ into since 2009. After replacing defrost heater and timer in freezer, ice maker overflowing (coincidence or repair error?) Valve replaced in 2009- Repair person tried to turn down water flower knob, still overflowed. Switched valve with his and still overflowed, but never tested either valve with volt meter. Husband changed water filter on line in basement which he let go 3-6 months too long. This corrected the cold water staying on too long but not the ice maker! Is there a filter in the fridge leading to ice maker somewhere that could be clogged? Repair person says I need new ice maker but I guess I could just get Ice Maker Control Module OEM. I did notice that coating was chipping off water tray so I guess new one may be warranted- but big price difference! Still not positive it's not the valve. I should buy a voltage meter to be sure before I order ice maker. Going to install it myself as I did fine taking it out today to defrost and inspect!
Answer Kt, If you put a valve on the unit that was a known good valve and it was still overflowing then the valve would not be the issue. This unit does not have a built in filter. If the coating is chipping off the icemaker then you will want to replace the icemaker assembly. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, May 10, 2013
