Adam for Model Number GEW9250PW1 I have a Whirlpool Duet Dryer model # GEW9250PW1. The rear of the drum is not centered, and is actually biased sidways. Is it likely that the cause of this problem is a worn drum support roller? I expected to see that the drum would be dropping if it was a worn drum support roller, not moved sideways. Can you look at the drum support rollers and tell if they are excessively worn? If I replace a roller or two, should I also replace the rear felt since it has probably been slightly worn down by having the drum offset? The original issue is that lightweight, light colored garments frequently get short brown lines on them after the dryer. This appears to be caused by the drum mis-alignment and some lightweight clothes getting into the resulting opening between the drum felt and the back of the dryer. Thanks for your help!
Answer Adam, Sometimes the rollers can cause a drum to seem to be sideways(optical illusion), also a damaged or worn out drum roller would also be accompanied by a rumble or rubbing noise. Yes, a worn drum roller would be a little obvious once you have access to the cabinet interior. But your dryer has four drum rollers (two front and two rear) and there is a possibility that more than one roller has failed. It's best to replace all the rollers WPW10314173 / WPW10314173 Drum Support Roller at the same time(you may want to consider the 4392067 / 4392067 Dryer Repair Kit, has several additional parts). Also make sure the dryer is level and setting on all four feet on the floor, once the repair is complete. Thanks, Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, February 27, 2019
Answer Adam, Remove the front panel to where you can remove the entire drum and visually check all rollers. It should be obvious which ones are worn and replacing all 4 might not be a bad idea. I definitely would replace the felt also since your gonna have the drum out. Go slow thru this the glue is messy and let sit a while before reassembly. If any supports for the rollers have come loose simply tighten and check rollers for damage. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, February 27, 2019
