Joe for Model Number MGD5840TW0 Hello! The problem was had to dry twice in the more dry selection of the moisture detector cycle. Cleaned the metal strips on the part. This did not change anything. Ran dryer empty in the same setting, the heat came on and off for 15 minutes then ran another 30 minutes with the igniter glowing but no flame at least part of the time. Checked all the stat’s and fuses in the back for continuity and tested coils on the gas valve as they were within range. I hear that when the coils heat up they might not work properly even after testing ok. I was going to order new coils to try but I am wondering could it possibly be the moisture sensor? I do believe it was used in the timed setting & it took a while. The vents are clean. Thanks!
Answer Joe, if the ignitor 279311 was not cycling on and off (about every minute or so) when there was not a flame, this would indicate that the ignitor is failing to heat up to the temperature needed to open the flame sensor and send voltage specifically to the coils.
