Symptoms of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly include:

  • Error codes displayed on the oven's control panel

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Adam for Model Number GERC4110PS0

1) when I up the temp from 300 F to 375, as an example, the oven displays "pre heating 285" or some lower temp then what it was origianlly set to. Why is the temp lower then what is displayed on the display? 2) one time I set the stove to 450F but couldn't shut it down - I have to go and turn off the breaker in the main power panel - what could have caused this? 3) Sometimes the temp is set to 400 but the stove does not seem to hold the temp - what could be causing this? thank you.

Answer

Adam, When you set the control for a desired temp. the display reverts back to 100 dgrs, then starts to heat and the display works it's way up to the set temp. This is normal. You are on the right track, a weak or damaged oven temp. sensor WPW10181986 , or loose connection, could be the cause of irratic temperatures and display, especially if you have no error codes on the display. Good Luck and Thanks
