Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10705575

The Turbidity Sensor is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It detects the level of particles in the water during the wash cycle, allowing the dishwasher to adjust the cycle duration and water usage for optimal cleaning performance. This sensor ensures that dishes are thoroughly cleaned by monitoring water clarity.

You should replace the turbidity sensor if it becomes faulty or damaged. Causes of a bad turbidity sensor can include regular wear and tear, exposure to hard water minerals, or electrical malfunctions. A malfunctioning sensor can lead to inefficient cleaning cycles and poor wash results.

Symptoms of a bad turbidity sensor include:

  • Dishes not being cleaned properly
  • Dishwasher running longer than usual or shorter cycles
  • Error codes related to the sensor
  • Inconsistent wash performance

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Edward K. for Model Number KUDS30FXSS1

Ran the service diagnostics several times. It doesn't clean anything in the top rack. All spray arms and tubes are all free of obstruction. Keeps showing low water. Also says overfill in stuck open position. Ohm meter shows overfill working just fine. Shows all the circuits working. Fill valve seems to work just fine. Don't know if the OWI sensor is bad. Plenty of water getting to the valve. No blockage to the fill valve. The control board is 6 months old. I just don't know what else to check. Dishwasher is only 4 years old and I'm not ready to trash it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer

Hello Edward, First thing you should do is verify the water pressure to the dishwasher. Since they fill on a timed basis, if low water pressure is the issue, it will not fill with enough water if the water pressure is too low from the shut-off valve not being fully opened or if the valve connection is fouled with sedimentation and/or mineral deposits. The water valve may not be opening fully due to a mechanical problem that will not show up on a test meter. You could have a heavy float switch that is shutting the water off pre-maturely. There could be an issue with the control which would also prevent the proper fault codes from being displayed. Lastly, you could have a stopped up filter or check valve or a separated spray arm interfering with the water pressure.
