The Turbidity Sensor is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It detects the level of particles in the water during the wash cycle, allowing the dishwasher to adjust the cycle duration and water usage for optimal cleaning performance. This sensor ensures that dishes are thoroughly cleaned by monitoring water clarity.

You should replace the turbidity sensor if it becomes faulty or damaged. Causes of a bad turbidity sensor can include regular wear and tear, exposure to hard water minerals, or electrical malfunctions. A malfunctioning sensor can lead to inefficient cleaning cycles and poor wash results.

Symptoms of a bad turbidity sensor include:

  • Dishes not being cleaned properly
  • Dishwasher running longer than usual or shorter cycles
  • Error codes related to the sensor
  • Inconsistent wash performance

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Roger for Model Number KUDIO2IRBL1

My dishwasher stopped working as if there was no power. I foound that the fuse had blown and the heating element fried. so I ordered those two parts from you, installed them and it came back to life. But then it would intermittently cycle through and end stop with the clean light blinking 7x's and pausing and then repeat it. I found how to cancel and reset the panel. That did not resolve the problem however. The blinking clean light comes on whether in normal wash or high temp wash, and it does this intermittently. Some times it cylces through ok and sometimes not. I then found on your site that if the check valve/grinder area is blocked it may also cause this to happen. And I did find it was partionly blocked. So that was completly cleaned out. But did not solve the problem. I then thought the control board must have been damaged somehow. so I purchased a new one from you guys but the problerm is occurrs. the last part I thought might need to be replaced was the sensor. But I don't know how to test it as it come with a wire harness plug in. and I'm not sure this would fail and cause the 7 blinks, pause, 7 blinks, .... to happen. I'm at the point of purchasing a new one but thought to ask if this little part may have been the problem before I do so. thanks.

Answer

Roger, Did you check the limit thermostat WP661566 for a "closed" circuit ? and make sure it hasn't beed dislodged from the bracket and is touching the tub. If all's OK, you will need to check the water temperature in the bottom of the tub after the first fill of a wash cycle. The water temp. in the tub needs to be at least 120 dgrs.F. at the stsrt of the cycle for the control and sensors operate properly. If the water is not hot enough, the control cannot heat the water to the minimum standard(140 or 160 dgs.F.depending on cycle and selection made) and the "clean" light will flash seven times, indicating a heater issue.
