James J. for Model Number mgc5430 gas cooktop My unit when pluged in keeps tripping my circuit breaker, works fine lighting with a match. How many parts could short out causing this to happen?
Answer Hi James. Remove power. This is more than likely to have a black(line) wire from a switch shorting or pinched. You will need to remove the grates,and burners. Remove the knobs. Lift the unit from the cabinet. Take the top assy. off. Inspect before touching anything because a direct short will tell on itself by leaving a black burnt spot somewhere.
