By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM12030111
Manufacturer Part Number: 12001596

The Spark Module Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges. It is responsible for generating the spark needed to ignite the gas burners on the cooktop. The spark module sends electrical signals to the igniters, creating the spark that lights the gas for cooking.

Over time, the spark module can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. When the spark module becomes faulty, it can lead to various problems with igniting the burners.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Burners not lighting or taking a long time to light
  • No clicking sound when turning the burner knob
  • Burners only lighting intermittently
  • Visible sparks or arcing from the module

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: This part is only compatible with serial numbers starting with 21 and up on model 8351VV.

Answer

Hello Bob. I would loosen and re-tighten all of the screws holding the burners in place around that burner. You see, usually the cause of the complaint you have is a bad ground caused by a spill or the expansion and contraction of the metal parts where they are attached to one another. If it sparks sometimes, this eliminates the ignitor as the problem and also when the spark module sparks it hits on all of the ignitors wired to that output. If that doesn't do it, remove the screws and polish the pieces where they contact one another. Once you clean up the place where is has lost the ground, sparking will be restored to that burner. Have a great day!
