Hello Cheryl, Turn the breaker off to the unit so you don't get an electrical shock. Remove the kick panel and lay in front of the unit. The door springs will both install the same way but one will go on one side of the unit and one will go on the other side of the unit. The long end of the spring will hook on the back end of the door hinge assembly. The short end hooks on the bottom rail that the legs are screwed into. There is a slot with choices of about 5 positions or so to hook the spring into. The purpose of the adjustable slots is in case you have a wooden panel on the front of the door so the unit matches the cabinets, the door spring can be adjusted so the heavier door assembly won't drop like a rock when the door is opened. There are also heavier springs in case the door panel on your unit is especially heavy. The springs should be adjusted so the door will open easily and will stay opened with the rack slid out onto it. There should also be a plastic piece on the back end of the door hinges that prevents squeaking when the door is opened. If the plastic bearing WP3373234 as they call it, isn't present, the annoying squeaking sound wears the spring into and causes them to break.
