Claude F. for Model Number MAV6548AWW My washer has bearing noise only in the wash cycle, spin cycle has no noise. Also, I found oil under the washer. Is this a possible Bad transmission???
Answer Hello Claude. First you will need to check and see if the noise is coming from the brake and stator or from the transmission assembly. Alot of times, the noise will come from the brake WP35-6714 and stator WP35-6918 and people think it is the transmission bad in the unit. When the unit is in agitate, the brake is engaged to hold the basket from spinning. If the brake is slipping, it will make a bad noise almost like a grinding, chirping sound, every time the agitator turns. If this is the case, you will need to replace the brake and rotor on the unit. if you replace the brake and rotor, it is wise to replace the snubber WP21002026 at the same time. If both are good, and the brake is not slipping, you will need to replace the transmission 35-6615. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, February 23, 2012
