Gerry for Model Number 04100193 I am looking for a replacement fan control switch. Maytag told me the part number is 04100193. Will part #12002045 work and do you have any? Thanks for your help. Gerry
Answer Hello Gerry, The original switch is no longer available because the vendor who manufactured the switch for Maytag Corporation stopped making it and Maytag was unable to find another vendor who would make it for them. Maytags' solution was not highly publicized, but the original switch was replaced with basically an on/off switch WP74009256. The switch installation takes some wiring modifications, but it works well but without a variable speed switch. The instructions actually make it more complicated than it has to be. The simple way to wire the new switch is, after discontinuing the power supply to the unit, remove the old switch and the black wire that leads to the black on the terminal block, (power supply connection), goes on one side of the switch and the black wire that goes to the fan motor goes on the other side of the switch. The remaining wires can be cut and terminated. The manufacturer expects that the old wires be removed from the unit, but as long as they cannot touch any other wiring, they can remain. Read More...
