Steve for Model Number MAYTAG LEGACY QUIET SERIES 300 Two nights ago, our [Maytag Legacy Quiet Series 300] dishwater began to make a very loud humming/sawing noise during the wash (can be heard three rooms away). I inspected the interior and found the blades and trap clean and all to be in order. The only thing that seemed odd was the float was loose. I gently checked to see if it was lodged and out it came, the flat nail-head-like part of the stem is gone, and so it slides up and out and in easily. I don't know if this is the cause for the loud saw-like humming but there are no other symptoms (i.e. no foaming or draining issues; and after cancelling the first wash, I ran a second and despite the awful sound, it seemed to clean well enough). Any suggestions how I can fix this poor ailing dishwasher? Thank you.
Answer Hello Steve. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the float is not allowing enough water to come into the machine and is causing the unit to make alot of noise. You will need to replace the float switch W10202535, so it will hold the switch closed until enough water is in the tub to properly wash the dishes. Hope this helps. Read More...
