The membrane switch is the low-profile keypad behind your microwave's control panel. It registers button presses so you can select settings and start cooking. Replace it if keys stop responding or require excessive pressure.

  • Converts keypad presses into signals for the electronic control
  • Enables selection of power levels, cook times, and options
  • Common symptoms: some or all keys don't work, intermittent response, must press very hard
  • If the unit won't start/stop from the keypad, the membrane switch may be faulty
What's included: 1 membrane switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
  • Remove the control panel to access the keypad; note ribbon orientation and routing
  • Handle the flexible ribbon carefully—don't crease it—and fully seat/lock the connector

Answer

Linda, you'll need to replace the membrane switch part number WPW10207930. To replace you'll need to remove the power. Remove the door. Remove all burner assy. and lay them separately aside so you can reinstall them in the same area. Make sure you are careful unhooking the igniters (they will crack and end up bad). Then lift the top and support it with the supplied rod or a piece of wood. All this will give access to the top of the control panel and the surrounding bottom control panel screws. Once you remove the control panel, it will give access to the clock mount screws and the ribbon cables for the membrane assy. Make sure the ribbon cable is not kinked or broken when reinstalling the control panel. Make sure you reinsert the ribbon cable pushed in tight and locked (if equipped). Thank You.
